GMail Drive shell extension est une extension pour Windows qui transforme un compte Gmail en zone de stockage Internet. Pour cela, le logiciel ajoute un disque dur virtuel au poste de travail de Windows.²

When you create a new file using GMail Drive, it generates an e-mail and posts it to your account. The e-mail appears in your normal Inbox folder, and the file is attached as an e-mail attachment.⁴

You can think of this one as an extra 2.5 GB storage. However, it is important to keep in mnd that everytime the file is dragged to the drive it will have to be uploaded to gmail first and therefore moving slightly big files may take time for an upload to complete.⁵

In the past, Gmail also prevented users from transferring certain file types, such as an executable or ZIP archive. Some users bypassed this restriction by renaming the file extension or by putting it into a RAR or 7zip archive.⁶

Kan met Winzip ook hoor Je moet dan eerst 1 grote zipfile maken en daarna kan je die zipfile splitsen in meerdere kleine zipfiles. Maar het gebruik van GMail drive wordt daardoor niet handig.⁷
