How To Study
Studying for Introductory Astronomy is not difficult, but it is a bit different from the studying you might be doing for a non-science course. These notes should help you use your time more wisely as you study astronomy.1
A good way is to start with “MySQL Internals Manual for version 4[.]1.1-alpha”. This comes straight from MySQL’s programmers, which is bad — some parts are hard to understand — but good, because this is your direct developer-to-developer analysis from people who really know the source code.2
Repeatedly going over the same information like putting a band-aid over a sieve. It may reduce the water that slips through, but it doesn?t solve the fundamental problem: that you have too many holes.3
Many students also find that the motor activity involved in the act of WRITING out information they wish to learn helps them to remember it better. A technique that often accompanies silent review or recitation is the use of CUES.4
If the teacher doesn’t provide a list, you should come up with one yourself. Go through your notes and the chapter(s) to come up with a comprehensive list.5
Formal and informal outlines may be used to organize lecture or text material according to topic or type of information. An example of an informal topical outline is given below (REFERENCE).6
As you study each section, do the following: read the heading and look for the primary idea about the heading in the first or second paragraph. When you find it, mark it by underlining or highlighting.7
