Ikarus
Ikarus hovers above the Toxic Wastes, held aloft by huge suspensors. It is, in fact, an archipelago of artificial flying islands which move in formation across the sky, sometimes parting to go their seperate ways, always coming back together in times of crisis.1
The best-selling microlight-type aircraft in Germany is the Ikarus C42, manufactured in southern Germany by the Comco-Ikarus company. The C42 was first produced in 1997, and there have now been over 400 of these aircraft delivered.2
Originally invented by Dr Peter Karow, Ikarus (German spelling of the mythical figure Icarus) got its name from the frequency with which it crashed in the early days of its development. It was designed to run on minicomputers such as DEC VAX and later adapted to microcomputers as they became increasingly powerful.3
