Top Salaries

Everyone knows Silicon Valley is full of millionaire executives, but how much do they actually make? Executives at AMD and Hewlett-Packard top the 2006 list of people with the highest base salaries from publicly held companies.1

Individuals with rational thought processes might assume NBC’s brass would curry savings at the top, where salaries are most exhorbitant. How about Today newcomer Meredith Vieira same $10 million pay?2

While ISB ranked 20th in the worldwide rankings, it is ranked as the 3rd best B-school in the Acia Pacific B-Schools. ISB also makes Top of the chart (Rank 1) in categories such as “Top Salaries in Consulting” and “Top Salaries in Finance”.3

Those companies, and the law firms the companies hire for additional lobbying, are private, for-profit entities and aren’t required to disclose lobbyist salaries. Trade associations, however, typically are not-for-profit, and in exchange for the myriad tax benefits that status gives them they are required to make certain information available, including top salaries.4

While the top two salaries at the University of Arizona also go to the men’s basketball and football head coaches, six of the school’s 10 salaries of $400,000 or more in 2006 went to the medical school’s leaders and faculty members. Since the sports and medical programs produce revenue, only about 28 percent of the almost $5 million paid to UA’s top 10 earners comes from the state.5

Traveling RN’s earn outstanding wages — far surpassing the $52,330 median annual income in 2004 for nurses overall. Factor in the top salaries, free insurance, bonuses, free housing — and travel RN’s can make up to $100,000 annually.6
